Sara Dictation Works Like Siri Speech-To-Text On Jailbroken iOS Devices [Jailbreak Tweak]

Only last week, we told you guys about the latest Siri alternative that was put forward by the jailbreak community. This Siri personal assistant clone was called as Sara, a somewhat similar nomenclature to Siri we might add. Sara was actually pretty well received by the jailbreak community because this was one of the first alternatives that is actually quite good, when compared to the other similar options.

And as we predicted, the team behind Sara have come forward with yet another offering. This time it is called as Sara Dictation, a nice little addon that works like a text to speech application on the iPhone. This would effectively let you speak to your phone when you press the little microphone button on your on-screen keyboard and turn your words into text on-screen.

This works and feels kind of like the real thing on the iPhone 4S. And surprisingly, the results are pretty accurate too, considering the fact that it can best be considered as a homebrew albeit professionally made, but still not something out of a big software company. And it’s not just some plain vanilla text to speech jailbreak tweak as Sara Dictation offers a range of other features as well, such as the ability to  put full stops, commas, placing spaces etc. All the things that make up a good text to voice application.

If you are familiar with the Nuance dragon Speaking Speech-to-text applications, you would be able to relate with Sara Dictation pretty easily, even though it doesn’t get any easier for a text to voice application to use.

What’s surprising is Sara Dictation’s support for over 30 languages, more than the original Siri’s support for English only. Also that Sara Dictation works really well and still comes in a very small package, just under 200Kb size. That should be an achievement in itself. And did we mention that it was free?

In order to install Sara Dictation on your jailbroken iDevice, look for Sara Dictation under the “http://isoftjsc.com” repository in Cydia. When you add the repo, just search for a file named Sara Dictation and complete the installation
