Does Jailbreak 5.1 iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad, iPod Touch 4G, 3G possible? We have received dozen of mails and questions on our Facebook, Google+ and Twitter asking about the possibility of 5.1 jailbreaking. Shortly, There is now jailbreak available for 5.1 right now. But let me show you what would be the scenario in the next few days.
Jailbreak 5.1 Untethered Possibility:
At the beginning let’s separate between the A5 devices (iPhone 4S / iPad 2) and non-A5 devices (iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 4G, iPod Touch 3G and iPad 1) as the technicality of jailbreak varies between all of them.
Jailbreak 5.1 iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad 1, iPod Touch 4G, 3G:
As most of you know that the iOS 5.1 predecessor iOS 5.0.1 was jailbroken by the help of Dream Team (Pod2g, Chronic Dev-team and iPhone Dev-team). Dream Team was able to jailbreak 5.0.1 untethered 3 months ago. Pod2g was the guy behind the exploit found in iOS 5.0.1, iPhone Dev-team was the responsible for injecting untethered jailbreak into Redsn0w and PwnageTool, Chronic Dev-team was responsible for putting untethered 5.0.1 jailbreak into a Cydia package (Corona).
Definitely, that the Dream Team will continue his task in bringing iOS 5.1 untethered jailbreak as soon as possible. We expect that Dev-team will release tethered jailbreak very soon, as iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad 1, iPod Touch 4G and 3G are already exploitable with Limera1n exploit founded by the famous hacker George Hotz (aka Geohot) at October 2010. The difficulty will be in digging for 5.1 untethered exploit which would consume some time.
So we expect that iPhone Dev-team will release new updated version of Redsn0w and PwnageTool which will be considered as a quick solution for who updated their iDevices mistakenly.
Update: As we expected, iPhone Dev-team has released new version of Redsn0w to jailbreak iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad 1, iPod touch 4G, 3G, for more details – Click Here
Jailbreak 5.1 iPhone 4S / iPad 2 untethered:
Pod2g was also the key person behind iPhone 4S and iPad 2 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak with Absinthe Greenpois0n Jailbreak two months. And as expected Apple has closed the Corona exploit that was used to inject Cydia to both iPhone 4S and iPad 2. But actually finding an exploit to jailbreak those A5 devices (iPhone 4S – iPad 2) is pretty difficult and complicated than non-A5 devices. Definitely, the Dream-team is working in this task too. They are working hard to find new exploit to jailbreak 5.1 as soon as possible.
Last few months we heard that Geohot left Facebook and jumps back into hacking. So I think that iOS 5.1 untethered jailbreak is a big challenge that stimulates Geohot to help the community again.
Important Notes for iPhone 4S / iPad 2 Users:
- If you have an iPhone4S, the basic rule above is really the only rule: you cannot restore back to 5.0.1 once the 5.0.1 signing window is closed, no matter what (even if you saved your SHSH blobs).
- If you have an iPad2 with saved 4.x hashes, you can in fact downgrade to that 4.x but you won’t be able to get to 5.0.1 once the 5.0.1 signing window is closed (even if you saved your 5.0.1 SHSH blobs).
Jailbreak 5.1 Release Date:
There is no officially date announced so far. Currently, iPhone Dev-team is making tests on iOS 5.1 and digging for exploit, so that we expect that they may give us expected dates in the next few days.
Our Recommendations: All jailbreakers and unlockers should stay away from 5.1 to keep enjoying your jailbreak, unlock and actually there are no killing features in iOS 5.1.

This is the first time I own an iPhone 2 weeks ago, iOS5.1 was loaded in default. :( but has been playing 2nd generation iTouch for a long time. Look forward for the jailbreak. Unfortunately am not a programmer to help the team.
