Now we are living in the jailbreak golden days. So far the hackers were managed to discover three different exploits to jailbreak for iPad 3 running iOS 5.1. We reported you earlier that MuscleNerd was able to jailbreak his iPad 3 on 5.1 (tethered) only 12 hours after it was on sale, you can check screenshots from here.
The second involved hacker on iPad 3 jailbreak is i0n1c. The German hacker has successfully brought untethered jailbreak for iPad 3 on 5.1. He also demonstrated his achievement in a video, you can check it out from here. The method used by i0n1c to jailbreak iPad 3 is quite different form the exploit used by MuscleNerd. That’s really amazing, as this maximize our chances of getting iPad 3 jailbreak for iOS 5.1 and may be for future iOS versions.
Lastly, two iPhone developers, Grant Paul and Paul Griffin were able to jailbreak iPad 3 on 5.1 in 3 – 4 hours after shipment. Likely hackers won’t release all of them at one time in order to obtain the maximum benefits from these exploits and to keep them away from Apple hands.
Jailbreaking iPad 3 on 5.1 means that iPad 2 and iPhone 4S are on the same track. So the next iOS 5.1 untethered jailbreak will include these three devices (iPad 3, iPad 2 and iPhone 4S). Also A4 devices (iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad 1, iPod touch 4G, 3G) won’t stay on tethered jailbreak for too long, stay tuned.
Update: MuscleNerd of iPhone Dev-team has confirmed that any jailbreak for iPad 3 will be also applied to all the other devices too (except possibly AppleTV).
