How to install Cydia on iPhone 4S, 4, 3GS, iPad 2, 1, iPod Touch 4G, 3G? Well, at the beginning let us ask what is Cydia? and what is Jailbreak? These are the frequently asked questions by many of iOS devices users.

What is Cydia?
Cydia is another App Store. As most of you know that Apple monopolizes the installation of Apps on iPhone, iPad or iPod touch from its official App Store only. But thanks to developers who were able to break this monopolism. Cydia App Store, allow you to download and install apps, tweaks, themes and etc. Cydia is loaded with tons of amazing and powerful apps that improve your iOS device. So by default all iOS device users have Apple App Store. To install Cydia on your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad, you need to jailbreak your device.

What is Jailbreak?
Jailbreaking is a process that injects unofficial application installers such as Cydia to your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or Apple TV. But due to Apple’s restrictions, the developers are running unsigned code in order to bypass these restrictions to install Cydia. There are many programs that have been developed by hackers and developers, to let you install Cydia on your iOS devices.

All of them can install Cydia on your iOS device, but which one to use? this depend on many factors, such as iDevice version (iPhone 4S, 4, 3GS, iPad 2, 1, iPod touch 4G, 3G or Apple TV), iOS version, unlocked or locked iPhone and etc.

What is the difference between app store and Cydia?

That’s a good question. You’ve now known that Cydia is much similar to the app store but you may want to know what’s the difference. Well, some apps that can’t be approved by Apple. Those apps are really very important for your iPhone. Utilities and tweaks can be found over Cydia are those that are not there on the app store.

How to know iOS version to install Cydia (Jailbreak your iDevice)?

It’s very simple, just follow the below simple steps:

  • Tap on Setting icon on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

  • Tap on General

  • Tap on About

  • Here’s your iOS version

After you got your iOS version, just follow the proper tutorial from below list to install Cydia (Jailbreak) on your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad.
