Well, as most of you know that iPhone dev-team has released Redsn0w 0.9.10b6 to bring the first jailbreak for iOS 5.1, but unfortunately it still tethered jailbreak and this is the cause of Apple logo problem after 5.1 jailbreak. What does Tethered Jailbreak Means?

Tethered jailbreaks require a computer connection to boot a jailbroken iOS device. The concept of a tethered jailbreak has been around a long time, but essentially it means this: every time your iPhone or iPod touch reboots or the battery dies, you have to connect (tether) your iOS device back to your computer so that the hardware can boot with the aid of the jailbreak application.

How to fix stuck on Apple Logo after 5.1 jailbreak – iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad 1, iPod Touch 4G, 3G:

Step 1: Download Redsn0w 0.9.10b6 (WindowsMac)

Step 2: Connect your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad with computer

Step 3: Run Redsn0w you have downloaded above and choose “Extras”

jailbreak 5.1

Step 4: Click on “Just Boot”, then follow the DFU instructions, done.

Note: You have to follow the above steps every time you reboot your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad.

Here’s another way that helps you to avoid stuck on Apple logo problem after 5.1 jailbreak. You have to download an app from Cydia called “SemiTether” which allows you reboot your device without connecting it with computer. But the main issue is that 99% of jailbreak apps and tweaks won’t work at all. So what now ? Semi-tethered jailbreak is only a protection for you if your device reboots while you were away from your computer, but you will be able to use the most important functions of you iPhone until you get home and connect it with Redsn0w.

How to fix stuck on Apple logo error after 5.1 jailbreak using SemiTether:

Step 1: Now, open Cydia > Manage > Sources.

jailbreak 5.1 untethered iphone 4, 3Gs, ipod touch 4g, 3G, iPad 1

step 2: Tap on Edit > Add and insert the following repository

http://thebigboss.org/semitether

jailbreak 5.1 untethered iphone 4, 3Gs, ipod touch 4g, 3G, iPad 1

Step 3: Search for SemiTether and install it then reboot your device.

I have the 5.1 tethered jailbreak with a frozen apple logo. When I boot through Redsnow its back and running with no problems. Can I use Semitether without problems? The problem started when I downloaded a pirate tweak from Cydia and was stuck in a safe mode loop. I then jailbreak it but with a lower version of redsnow  and got an error during the flashing process (white writting). Then it stayed like that freezing with all the small writting. So I had to switched it off. When I switched it back on it froze on the apple logo. Anyone got any solutions or has experiance the same problem?

Hey, I managed to fix the problem by restoring and upgrading to 5.1.1. After restoring it back to normal I then installed Cydia back on with no problems. Just back up everything and restore it via iTunes in DFU mode. So put it on DFU mode from when you are stuck on the apple logo. Hold power and home until it switches off. As soon as it switches off count to 3 seconds and release the power button while holding the home button for 8 seconds. Best to research SHSH back up before the next iTunes update. Let me know if it works.
