When iPhone 4S was released, the voice recognizing personal assistant Siri was the biggest motivating factor for the buyers, especially those who already had an iPhone 4, as both iPhone 4 and the iPhone 4S look almost identical. Siri was the feature that set them apart and was first and one of a kind feature that really grasped people’s attention. And as always, the jailbreak community tried to replicate Siri so that it could be run on previous iOS devices as well, but wasn’t very successful in its attempts.
Apple had made sure that replicating Siri would be no walk in the park. There have of course been Siri alternatives cooked up by the jailbreak community but none have been that were entirely stable or even practical for that matter, as most required a lot of hassle to set up and even then didn’t work as expected.
The best and the closest that they ever got for a Siri alternative was with the release of Spire, a jailbreak tweak that was relatively easy to set up, but still required a proxy server in order for Siri to communicate with Apple’s servers, as it could not do so on it’s own. A unique identification key was also required from a working iPhone 4S that was used to authenticate the validity of the request for Siri communication with Apple’s servers. All in all a very jittery user experience therefore not an extremely popular Siri alternative.
And it looks like that a solution has finally come up with in the shape of “Sara” a Siri alternative created by a bunch of Vietnamese developers. This jailbreak package is free of charge and is pretty easy and straight forward to set up, and works without any hiccups. A great feature of Sara is that it is based on an open architecture and lets users to teach it new commands and functions. This means that developers have a free reign and can let their imaginations run wild in creating new and exiciting plugins for Sara.
Along with all this Siri can also read bar-codes and already is available in 37 different languages. Now that’s a lot for something that’s barely a month out of the oven! So in order to install this amazing Siri alternative, all you have to do is to install this repository: http://isoftjsc.com and install Sara for your correct device type.
But for that you would of course need to have a jailbroken iPhone or iPad. If you still haven’t done it then check our amazing guide to jailbreak your iPhone and try out this amazing Siri alternative yourself.
